Alternative Education

We understand that not everyone flourishes within mainstream education and whilst we support and deliver many programmes within these establishments, we are also mindful of those vast numbers of young people and community members who need an alternative approach and offering to help them through to the next stages of their learning and personal development.

We work with a wide range of young people with multi-faceted needs and issues ranging from those on the Autism spectrum, young people with ADHD and youngsters that have mild to severe emotional and social difficulties. We appreciate that many of these young people need to be taken on a journey and whilst short interventions can assist some, many need a longer and more holistic approach, which we can offer with assistance from our partners and your networks.

We deliver innovative and engaging programmes to these youngsters in group settings or on an individual basis at our centre or any location of your choosing. The programmes use a mixture of game play, games development, video or Machinima creation to engage and assist with skills development. An important feature of our programmes is that we help young people create a tangible output that they can put into their portfolios. This output provides them with a sense of ownership, contribution and accomplishment; it also documents their journey and development. These programmes are mapped into ASDAN awards so the young people gain recognised qualifications that have GCSE/A-Level/UCAS points equivalency that have currency & meaning in further education and to employers.

Our alternative education facilitators work closely with you & the young person to map out their individual plans, set objectives and goals and to set out a variety of activities that provide personal skills development, barrier reduction, soft skills augmentation (active listening, communication, confidence and such like) basic numeracy and literacy and accredited learning. We also offer work placements and volunteering opportunities for these young people at the end of their programmes with us to help them with the transition process to their chosen next stage.
